On April 29, 1999, two boys conducted what is one of today's biggest school shootings. At Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed 13 and wounded 20 before committing suicide. The massacre led to political debates about gun control and school safety. It also led to an investigation to determine what motivated Eric and Dylan to commit such a tragedy. The two had been bullied, were members of a group comprised of social outcasts fascinated by the Goth culture, were influenced by violent video games and harsh music, but none of these theories were ever proven.
